Catsfield Christmas Tree Farm & Catsfield CEP School donate to Air Ambulance

Clive Collins, owner of Catsfield Christmas Tree Farm, and Catsfield CEP School together have raised more than £1,000 for Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance.

Both the school and Clive have strong personal connections with the Air Ambulance and wanted to raise money for the charity so it can continue to save people’s lives.

Caroline Garland, Headteacher of Catsfield CEP School, said: "The children have been running different fundraising events all year and are very excited to be able to donate this much."

The pupils from Catsfield CEP School organised cake sales, mufti days and pyjama days to raise money for the charity while Clive donated money from each tree sold.

Clive has a special connection with the Air Ambulance as 28 years ago he was rescued by air ambulance after an accident while working as a forester.

Clive fell 30ft from a tree and broke his back. He was left paralysed from the waist down, but didn't let that stop him from pursuing his dream of owning his own business.

He said: "This has always been a very important charity to me and I'm incredibly happy to be able to give back after they did so much for me."

Catsfield Christmas Tree Farm is going from strength to strength and supplies trees to hotels and businesses as well as retail customers.

The school and Clive have donated a total of £856.05 for the charity which has been topped up by Clive to total £1056.05. £200 of the amount was raised by the school.

Nick Turrell, Community Fundraising Manager at Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Clive and the team at Catsfield Christmas Tree Farm, and to Catsfield Primary School, for their continued support.

“It is always heart-warming to see young people doing such good for the community. A donation of £1,000 could buy aircraft fuel for 10 potentially life-saving missions, which really does put it into perspective.”

This will be the third year that Clive has donated money to the charity. Catsfield Christmas Tree Farm has been growing and selling Christmas trees for more than 25 years.
